Aimless Jane
(Paul McDonald)
Aimless Jane
Jane was going to save the world
And she never meant to be his girl
But she didn’t always look the other way
She was trying to find her way to Rome
And she did not want to go alone
And she really needed him to pay her way
She was looking for someone who’d listen
And trying to get back the time she pissed away
The sky looks really blue to her
Or sometimes gray, she’s not too sure
Because colors are so easily changed
She signs in pencil just in case
She may not want to buy the place
Though she never makes an offer anyway
And her life is filled with indecision
Just like the book she wished she’d written
Aimless Jane
She never sings a chorus
And that's alright with me
She chooses to ignore us
Refuses now to see
That all the things before us
Will set her free
Jane thought she was where it’s at
But she never wants to work in fact
She chooses to ignore it everyday
She wears a chain that says ‘Jesus Saves’
And she says that she’ll find him someday
Though she doesn’t really believe it anyway
And her life is filled with indecision
Just like the book she wished she’d written
Aimless Jane
